Apple Back to School Deals rumored to offer free iPhone 3G

Last year Apple offered a free iPod touch or iPod nano with a Mac purchase in their Back to school deals.

The Apple Back To School Deals are for student, teacher, or staff member only and usually are available from June to September. MacRumors reports that Apple might announce the Back to School deals already tomorrow. Apple is rumored to be offering the 8GB iPhone 3G along with the 8GB iPod touch and 8GB iPod nano for free with a qualifying Apple Mac purchase.

Of course you still would have to sign a 2 year contract with AT&T, but you would save the $200.

Apple just recently started offering the iPhone 3G in their online store. Of course such a rebate promotion would help clear the inventory of the 8GB iPhone 3G and make room for the new iPhone 2009.

Coolest Free iPhone Games and Applications

One of the things I like best about my iPhone is that I can get all sorts of games and applications for free off the iTunes store. Like most things in life, not all apps are created equal and if you have been on the lookout for some quality free games and applications for your iPhone, I am going to run down a few of my favorites here.

Fandango Movie App

I like to go to the movies, but I don't like to have to wait on the phone to get movie times if I am not near a computer to check online. I downloaded the new Fandango application for the iPhone and if you are a movie fan, you need to grab the app too.

Using the application you can put in your zip code or allow the app to find your location. After your location is entered, the application will show you nearby movie theaters along with movie times. If the theater participates, you can even buy movie tickets right from the application with your credit card and avoid the lines. Movie times are accurate and the application is very easy to use. Fans can also rate movies via the application.

Darts

One of the games I often play when I am sitting in the line to pick my son up from school is a darts game from Brian Hammond, which you can get more details on from dartsapp. The game is simple enough and offers practice and play versus AI modes. When playing the AI you can choose from beginner, intermediate, and master skill levels. Two game types are offered including X01 and Cricket.

Dockers Launches World's First Motion-Sensitive Ad on iPhone

You don’t really expect khaki pants to be associated with technology, but a new commercial for Dockers designed for the iPhone is being called the world's first motion-sensitive ad. The new ad will reportedly be inserted into free apps on the App Store.

The ad is called Shakedown to Get Down and features a freestyle dance expressionist named Dufon from a dance group called Circle of Fire. In the ad, the dancer dances on the screen wearing Dockers Vintage Workwear khakis.

The iPhone user is prompted to shake the iPhone to start the dancer dancing around the screen with sound. The interactive ad will launch in early March and run for four weeks on the free iPhone apps iBasketball, iGolf, iBowl, and iTV.

Downgrade from iPhone Firmware 1.1.1 to 1.0.2 available

The iPhone hacking community is hard at work and the first step in gaining control over the iPhone back again is achieved.

A downgrade process from firmware 1.1.1 to the previous firmware 1.0.2 is available. The downgrade allows you to again run 3rd party applications on the iPhone if you had upgraded the firmware. The iPhone will still remain locked though and you will not be able to phone.

As said in yesterday's story iPhone power users are in uproar because the new firmware disabled 3rd party applications. With the firmware 1.1.1 Apple started the process we all know from the Sony PSP. Happy hacking!
