Last.fm release of a free iPhone application

Since the re-launch last month with its new design and features, Last.fm has seen a substantial increase in unique visitors and user engagement across its Web site. According to the latest comScore Media Metrix report (July 2008, US Data), Last.fm has experienced a 20% increase in unique visitors and a 36% increase in total minutes in the United States. Additionally, Last.fm saw a dramatic 208% year-over-year increase in total minutes spent on the site and a 62% increase in unique visitors, corresponding to a 90% increase in visitor engagement.

"This report reaffirms the investment we made in launching a new user-interface for Last.fm has paid off. We made listening, discovering and sharing music much easier for our users," said Martin Stiksel, Co-Founder, Last.fm. "We're thrilled with this response, and look forward to building on this growth through additional links and cross-promotions with CNET.com and the new expanded CBS Interactive sites."

Last.fm's new look features a clean and intuitive design that makes it easier for users to play, discover and share music online. The new site also offers advertisers unique and immersive campaign opportunities through "smart ads" and interactive group pages.

The month-to-month growth reflects an increase in brand awareness for Last.fm. Other recent developments for the site include the release of a free iPhone application, which allows users to listen to Last.fm's unique personal radio on the move. Also, through partnerships with companies such as Logitech, Last.fm is extending its music service beyond the web, providing various ways for users to listen and discover music wherever and whenever they want. In conjunction with CBS, Last.fm is also extending the TV viewing experience through programs such as the "Listen Again" campaign. As part of that campaign, music played during CBS's "Swingtown" series featured on-screen callouts directing viewers to Last.fm, where they could "Listen Again" and discover other singles from the show's soundtrack.
